Dante heard her answer and glanced at her. He then quickly looked away, knowing he should keep his eyes on the surroundings, not on the princess. "Two months? A lot has changed in two months. There have been many deaths either from sickness or from the one person that people call Shadowstalker(Shadow stalker)," he stated, looking around.
Battle-scar nickered as a beautiful dappled mare walked by. Dante smiled a bit. "Behave, Battle-scar," he stated, patting the horse's shoulder. He once again looked at Sophia. "Shadowstalker is a tricky assassin, he is. He hasn't been caught yet and the guards that do catch him die along with the person he is trying to kill," he explained, tensing as a bush rustled. Two kids at play ran out, laughing.
"The people in town fear for their lives. Many are moving deeper into the land for safety. Others are learning to fight with multiple different weapons. The fathers force their sons to join the guard or navy. The sons run away, leaving their families, just so they can do what they want. The world is crumbling right infront of him and the king has, yet, to do something about it," he stated, as they entered the town. He saw many tense people.
A woman ran up to the princess and grabbed onto her foot. She begged for her to save the town, to become ruler. Dante quickly jabbed her with the hilt of his sword, sending her away from the princess. It was clear he didn't like hurting the people, but it had to be done for safety.

Sophia sighed slightly as Dante spoke about a sickness passing through the town. That was frustrating. On top of the pirates, the gods see fit to send sickness on them? Her eyes widened as he spoke of the assassin, Shadowstalker. That was very frightening to her.
She shook her head slightly as he spoke more of the assassin. It was strange, that someone was harming her people like that. And it seemed like for nothing...
She looked over at him as he spoke again of the people in the town. She figured they were moving inland, and that made sense to her. She just didn't know what to say at all to any of this. And it was her fault. She blinked back tears, trying to calm herself down. She wanted to help the people, she just didn't know how to without her father. She had lost quite a bit of training because her father had stopped trying to teach her. She stayed silent as she tried to calm herself down.
She gasped in surprise as a woman came up to her and grabbed her foot, eyes widening again as Dante hit her with his hilt, trying to keep her away from her. She spoke softly as she looked over at him. "Thank you Dante."

Dante glared at the people. He watched as people stopped what they were doing to look. He glared as people muttered stuff. "The king doesn't care about his people. They think you're going to do the same when you get the crown," he whispered to her, although keeping an eye on the people.
He let out a sigh as he stopped his horse. "Well, shall we move to a happier subject? If you want, we can head into the gardens. There wont be many people there," he added, putting his heels into the side of Battle-scar.
Battle-scar nickered and began to trot. He tossed his head a bit and Dante realized that he was pulling back on the reins. He loosened his grip and blinked. "When did we meet?" he asked, glancing at the princess.

Sophia sighed gently as she looked around, smiling at the people. She wanted them to trust her, because she wanted to make everything better when she gained the crown. When he spoke again, she looked at him, shocked. She understood though, that people would think that she didn't care.
She looked down at her reins, her hands tightening upon them. She was so frustrated with her father.. he had really messed things up.
She sighed as he stopped his horse, pulling Quinn to a stop as well. She looked over at him again as he spoke again, of going to the gardens. She nodded slightly. "That would be nice, Dante."
She made Quinn move again, headed towards the gardens. His next question caught her off guard, and she looked at him, shrugging her shoulders slightly. "I don't know, Dante... why?"

Dante thought for a moment. He then smiled. "I remember. It was a couple years ago. You were mad at something or someone. I was still in training then. I was taking a break when I saw you," he began, while they entered the gardens. The hedges were at least 10 feet tall. Red and white rose bushes were also in the garden. It was actually quiet except for the few fountains that were there for decoration.
"You were sneaking out of the castle and I followed you. I had to convince you to go back to the castle somehow. I think I promised you that I'd beat up anyone who would make you mad or hurt you," He said, chuckling a bit. He could feel the morning sun warming up his back as he continued further into the gardens.
"I did what I promised. I got that one prince from ever coming back. Of course, the king almost chopped my head off," he added, rubbing the back of his neck. He gave a small smile, giving a small laugh. He had attacked that one prince because he was peeking through Sophia's window. He hated guys like that. Pervert. he thought.

Sophia smiled as Dante recounted the time they met, glancing around at the garden as they entered. It had her thinking about that time as well, she remembered it now that Dante had mentioned it. She remembered, she was only 15 and her father had actually encouraged some suitors to come and woo her. It had made her upset, and she knew that she could escape.
She grinned slightly as she dismounted from Quinn, jumping off rather gracefully. She sighed slightly as she leaned against Quinn, looking up at Dante with a grin as he spoke of the prince, and what he had done.
She nodded and chuckled softly. "I remember that.. it was very interesting. You were lucky I took your side though." She grinned again, looking at him still. Though, he had told her just what had happened and she had convinced her father that Dante was right. "Thank you anyway.. I mean, you really saved me there. I can't imagine being married to that prince." She sighed and rubbed her hands together. The man was so.. creepy. He was lucky he was a prince, because if he wasn't... most likely he'd never get married.

"I'm glad as well," Dante stated, getting off of Battle-scar. He looked at Sophia and smiled again. "Those suitors were quite.... immature. If you should marry anybody, he should be a gentleman," he stated, tying Battle-scar's reins to a post. He needed to stretch his legs from being on the saddle for so long.
"Your father should know that, at least," he added, looking at her again. "Or you should find your own suitor," he added, moving a strand of his hair behind his ear. He watched as a few girls, around the age of 14, wave at him. They giggled a bit. He flashed them a charming smile, which made them blush. They quickly walked away, whispering amongst themselves.
He looked back at Sophia, wondering if she saw that

Sophia nodded slightly as Dante spoke, it was true, what he said of those suitors. She was surprised that they were princes, just because of the way that they acted. She supposed she should not be so harsh, however, because she was not always the most mature. Sneaking out proved that. She sighed softly and spoke after a moment. "I pray to the gods that the man I marry is a gentleman, Dante." She knew she could be stuck with a lousy husband, it depended on her father...
His next words had her sighing again. "I wish it were the case, Dante. I'd love to be able to pick my own husband." And honestly, it might happen. Her father had been taking less and less interest in Sophia and her siblings, so perhaps she could find a man to rule beside her own her own.
She noticed that Dante waved at some girls and flashed them a smile, a slight uneasy feeling coming over her. What was that? She shouldnt be... jealous. "Why aren't you married, Dante?" That would distract her, for now.

The question caught Dante off guard. He looked at her surprised, but quickly shook his head. He thought for a moment. "I just haven't found the right one. These girls that flirt with me everyday, I just don't feel might heart pound when I look at them," he stated, looking at her. He gave her a small smile.
"There's this one girl, though. I want one chance, but her father would kill me. And if her father wont, her brother would," he said, giving a small chuckle. He looked away from her so he could look around. "She most likely doesn't like me in the same way, though. And if she did, it could never be," he added, giving a small shrug.
He looked back at Sophia. He had a small blush on his face. "Many fathers have asked me to marry their daughters, but I obviously said no. They were either too young or too..... clingy," he explained, wondering if that was the correct word. He decided it was.

Sophia nodded slightly as Dante spoke of the girls that flirted with him, sighing slightly. She knew it was her duty to marry who her father wanted, but she wanted that heart pounding feeling too. She hoped she was lucky enough to find that as well.
She looked back over at Dante as he spoke of this 'girl' and she felt another strange flash of jealousy. She squashed it quickly and listened to him as he talked about her. Overprotective father and brother. Man, she knew how that felt. She wondered why it couldn't be, but before she could ask about it, he had continued to talk about other girls.
She laughed slightly as he described them as clingy, a grin crossing her face. "I understand, Dante. I've noticed that with women as well. Just watching them, especially around guards and other men in the palace. They try to attract the men in every way that they can think of... and sometimes 'clingy' is perfect, I think." She grinned again, giggling softly. She motioned to a bench and moved over to it, sitting down. "This girl, Dante... Do I know her?"

Dante smiled a bit. Women always wanted strong husbands, especially ones that work right under the King. He's had many girlfriends who have used him to just get to higher ranking men. He didn't like it, but he knew it would happen. He blinked, clearing his head. He sat down next to her. He blushed a bit more as she asked the question.
"Well, you and this girl are close. Very close actually. The same blood runs through her body as it does yours. You know everything about each other," He explained, clasping his hands together. He watched his hands, waiting for her to say something.
It was clear he was nervous. He looked back up at her, but his brown eyes were clouded over, showing no emotions. He gave a small smile. "Its not your sister either," he added, deciding that would give it away. He unclasped his hands and put one on each knee. He waited for the answer.

Women wanted strong husbands to protect them, as well as have money.. of course. But Sophia didn't have to worry about that at least, she had plenty of money...
She looked over at Dante as he sat next to her, studying his face when she noticed the blush that was upon it. He must really like this girl... when he finally spoke, Sophia could feel her jealousy rising again. It must be her sister. He said they had the same blood, and knew everything about each other. Olivia... she pursed her lips slightly, but said nothing. She did not want to do anything rash.
She watched as he looked up at her, and finally spoke again. A dawning came over her and her face flushed, looking away quickly. She was not sure what to say. She liked Dante, of course, but did she like him like that..? "Dante.." She spoke his name softly, looking back up at him. She was very unsure what to say, those flashes of jealousy made a little more sense now. She did like him, she enjoyed his company.. but he was right, it would never work... she studied his face, waiting for.. something.

Dante looked at her. His eyes widened as she looked away quickly. His hands balled up into fists and he looked back at the ground. His whole body was tense. What was he thinking? He shouldn't have said anything. He just ruined everything. He relaxed a bit when she said his name.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything," he said. He stood up quickly and walked a few feet away. He looked up at the sky. He kept his eyes on the clouds, letting the site relax him. He took a deep breath and let it out. "I wish I could have the chance, but....," he stated, but he couldn't finish the sentence. He didn't know how to finish it.
He looked back at her and gave her a small smile. He didn't know what to say. He was scared of what she would say or do. He wanted to head back to the castle, but he would see what she wanted to do.

Sophia glanced at Dante, noticing his hands were balled up. She was slightly worried, she didn't want to lose the friendship with him, and yet.. she almost knew that there could be something more with him as well.
When he apologized and stood up, and walked away, she looked back at him watching as he stood there. She wasn't sure what to do either, this could really mess them up.. or it could make her father angry. She sighed slightly and nodded as he said he wished he could have a chance, sighing slightly as she thought about it as well. She wondered what would happen.. what could happen.
She watched as he turned back to look at her again, standing up from the bench. She walked over to him, touching his arm softly. She wanted to comfort him. She just wanted.. something. She wished she had her own life, that she wasn't tied to the country so much.
Well, damn it all. She moved quickly, pressing her lips to his and kissing him deeply. She hoped that he would kiss her back, and not be too afraid to do so.

Dante tensed when she touched him. He was shocked when she kissed him. He stood there for a few seconds, unsure of what to do. Finally, he kissed back. His eyes closed and he reached up, touching face lightly. His heart was pounding. After a moment, he pulled away. He looked at her and made a small smile.
"I suppose you like me too," he said, giving a small chuckle. He gave her a peck on the lips. It was clear he was still shocked by her actions. "What about your father and brother? They wont approve," he added, looking at her a bit curiously.
((Very short. Very, very short. Sorry.))
